Dr. Soona Jahina, Orthodontist, humanitarian, and long time Thousand Smiles volunteer passed away April 23,2009, at the age of 76 from cancer. Dr. Jahina was born in Bombay, India. She came to the U.S. to finish her Masters and Doctorate in 1959. Soona and her husband moved to San Diego in 1968, where she joined the dental staff of UCSD. She also worked at the SD Naval Medical Center, Rady Children’s Hospital, Kaiser and Scripps. She was also an associate professor at the University of Souther California. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Rustom Dastur, also a dentist. Dr. Jahina was a loved and valued member of the TS team for many years. Her skills were incredible, as was her love for children. She will be sorely missed by us all.
