Boulder-OMS is hosting a golf tournament on behalf of Thousand Smiles Foundation at the prestigious Maderas Golf Club in Poway on Fri., Oct 23. We are looking for foursomes as well as donors and sponsors for the event. All the funds raised will go to help Thousand Smiles provide free cleft palate surgery and dental care to needy children in Baja. Sports celebrities including Eric Chavez and David Justice will be among the guests. There will also be a hole in one contest with a Masserati. The event includes: lunch, putting contest, shotgun start, happy hour with a silent auction. Spouses and guests are also welcome to attend the happy hour auction portion for a small fee. Dr. Soona Jahina, Orthodontist, humanitarian, and long time Thousand Smiles volunteer passed away April 23 at the age of 76 from cancer. Dr. Jahina was born in Bombay, India. She came to the U.S. to finish her Masters and Doctorate in 1959. Soona and her husband moved to San Diego in 1968, where she joined the dental staff of UCSD. She also worked at the SD Naval Medical Center, Rady Children’s Hospital, Kaiser and Scripps. She was also an associate professor at the University of Souther California. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Rustom Dastur, also a dentist. Dr. Jahina was a loved and valued member of the TS team for many years. Her skills were incredible, as was her love for children. She will be sorely missed by us all.
